When to Call for Shoreline Stabilization

Shoreline StabilizationShoreline erosion is a big deal, especially for waterfront property owners.  Even though erosion is a natural process, it can cause some shocking damage to your land.  Luckily, there is a solution to the problem.  Through a process called shoreline stabilization, we can help you figure out the best strategy to slow erosion on your shoreline. First, you need to be able to identify indicators of erosion so you know if you need to stabilize.  Look for these signs:

  • Your shoreline is more than two feet above the lakebed
  • Your property is not located in the back of a cove
  • You’ve noticed some loss of land along the shoreline

If any of the above indicators is present, you need to call a contractor to begin the shoreline stabilization process.  At Fender Marine Construction, we offer many ways to solve the problem.  Our techniques include the use of rip rap, seawalls, and retaining walls.  Many homeowners don’t realize that there are regulations regarding shore stabilization set by the Department of Environmental Protection.  Often, permits are required for certain methods.  As a company that has experience, we can advise you during this process.

If you do nothing to stabilize your shoreline, erosion will continue and could cause extreme property damage or loss.  That’s why it is so important to know when to call us and get started with shoreline stabilization. If you notice that your shoreline is eroding, call us today.
